Habitat for Humanity

Every year, Habitat for Humanity Manitoba relies on hundreds of volunteers to support its mission of building safe, decent, affordable housing for purchase by low-income working families. We welcome volunteers to don a hardhat and grab a hammer in order to provide families with a foundation for positive change. We offer opportunities for both individuals and groups.

Things to know:

  • Up to 10 volunteers at a build site at one time
  • One month’s notice is preferred for groups
  • A full day commitment is required
  • Volunteers must be able-bodied
  • Safety training is provided
  • Protective equipment will be provided (boots, hard hats etc)
  • Water and coffee are provided

Take Pride Winnipeg

Take Pride Winnipeg is a private, non-profit organization committed to inspiring civic pride, raising public awareness and promoting citizen responsibility to make the city of Winnipeg clean and beautiful. Delegates can get involved with litter clean up in the spring and graffiti paint over activities.

Things to know:

  • Groups of 25-30 people, or up to 50 for litter clean up
  • Two to three hours shifts are typical
  • Spring / Summer and Fall are generally the best times of year
  • At least one month notice required for groups
  • Transportation to and from job sites is provided along with any materials needed

Winnipeg Harvest

Winnipeg Harvest is non-profit, community –based organization committed to providing food to people struggle to feed themselves and their families. They are also committed to maximizing public awareness of hunger while working towards long-term solutions to hunger and poverty. Conference delegates can get involved with the food bank their warehouse bagging bulk items, sorting potatoes and helping out with other duties as needed.

Things to know:

  • Groups up to 25 people at a time
  • At least two to three months advanced notice is required for groups
  • Shifts are 1.5 hours which includes a 30 minute facility Tourism Winnipeg
  • Volunteer hours are Monday to Saturday, 10am-11:30am or 1:00pm-2:30pm

Winnipeg Humane Society

We are a community service organization committed to protecting animals from suffering, and to promoting their welfare and dignity, generous partners and hardworking volunteers united in the belief that every animal deserves love, a non-profit, registered charity funded primarily by donations and events, the oldest animal shelter and welfare organization in Manitoba, and always growing, changing and adapting to meet the needs of Winnipeg’s animal population.  

Things to know:         

  • The Winnipeg Humane Society can provide volunteer opportunities to Corporate Partners and individuals for Half Day (4 hours), Full Day (8 hours), and Monthly Commitments.
  • Prior discussions with groups/individuals is mandatory to match current shelter improvement projects with the skill set of our volunteers. 
  • Volunteer opportunities will include a shelter tour and animal interaction.         
  • The Winnipeg Humane Society can discuss the potential opportunity to host an educational and interactive booth at your conference.
