Meet the Tourism Winnipeg Team: Natalie Thiesen

Natalie has enticing offers for your next event in Winnipeg

By: Meetings Winnipeg // December 9, 2019 // Meeting Servicing

Natalie is Tourism Winnipeg's director of sales. She is a born and raised Winnipegger, and passionate about sharing her French heritage. The official countdown is on to her favourite time of year -- Festival du Voyageur (February 14 - 21, 2020), which is the largest kitchen party in Canada that celebrates the spirit of the voyageurs. When Natalie is not promoting her hometown, she is out running the winter trails, searching for the newest local coffee shop or baking with her family.

How does Winnipeg set itself apart as a destination from other cities?

Winnipeg remains one of Canada’s best-kept secrets and our team actively promotes this news. Our hospitality and tourism community in Winnipeg works collaboratively to exceed expectations and ensure your event’s success, no matter which venue you choose. Whether you are planning a board meeting or a citywide event, your event will receive our undivided attention, no matter what the size.

In the meetings and conventions market, we have a stellar reputation for our creativity in showcasing Winnipeg. We’ve hosted events featuring our city’s James Bond connection and the energy of a Whiteout Jets party, along with an evening themed around “Northern Lights to Human Rights.”

What types of supports and services does Winnipeg offer meetings & conventions events?

Tourism Winnipeg and the 50-plus Team Winnipeg stakeholders work together to ensure your business event is a success. We’re called “Friendly Manitoba” for a reason, so reach out to us as we offer a suite of free services and support to help bring your meeting to Winnipeg. Our team can assist with preparing a customized bid presentation. We offer marketing promotion materials, such as hi-res photos, videos and customized PowerPoint templates, which you’re welcome to use to promote the city for attendance building.

Our services make planning a breeze. We can host you for a site visit with personalized site inspections and tours of our meeting and convention facilities, prepare customized itineraries and companion programs, check hotel and venue availability, and distribute your meeting needs to local suppliers. We’re also happy to connect you with local suppliers, planners and destination management companies, and can provide you with meeting and convention incentive information.

When is a great time for meetings & conventions to look at Winnipeg as a destination?
Winnipeg is a four-season destination and we have a team of experts to support you in making the right choice for your client needs. If you’re looking for additional value, we have an active offer for SUMMER 2021 events. Reach out to the team today, to find out more.

What enticing offers does Winnipeg have for conference delegates?
Our client services and visitor services teams have developed great tools to help you grow your delegate attendance and engagement. Participate in our VISA gift card – social media “selfie contest,” and share the delegate discount programs throughout the city. Whether you are holding your meeting in the St. James Conference District or Downtown, there is access to award-winning culinary experiences, local shopping and so much more. Work with the team to build your custom conference landing page to make it easy for your delegates to start planning their experience.

Where will we see you 2020?
We have lots of fun in store in February for some Ottawa Senators/Winnipeg Jets hockey action. Most of all, I hope to see you in Winnipeg very soon.
