Come summer, upwards of 45,000 people attend the Winnipeg Folk Festival, while the TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival, Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival, Winnipeg New Music Festival, and Festival du Voyageur ensure there’s at least one big event on per season in the city.
The electric atmosphere during Winnipeg Jets home games at the Bell MTS Place is the envy of all other NHL teams. Investors Group Field is one of Canada’s great stadiums, home of the CFL Winnipeg Blue Bombers, while our Winnipeg Goldeyes have won back-to-back American Association of Independent Professional Baseball titles at Shaw Park.
Music fans should note that the likes of Neil Young and The Guess Who cut their chops in Winnipeg rocking the free world in our live music bars. You can experience this scene for yourself at clubs like the legendary Times Change(d) High and Lonesome Club – whose tiny honky-tonk room on Main Street has seen some of the best acts in North America; the West End Cultural Centre and the Pyramid Cabaret whose west end and downtown venues have always been a vocal supporter of the arts; along with fun newer places like The Good Will Social Club, which features live music (or some kind of happening) almost every night.
