Pack your Walking Shoes - Take a break to explore our walking, cycling or skating trails

Take a break to explore our walking, cycling or skating trails

Pack your Walking Shoes

By: Meetings Winnipeg // December 6, 2017

Some of the most productive meetings are done outside of the boardroom – while you’re in Winnipeg, why not take the chance to explore some hidden gems with your colleagues, or take in the sights on your own?

Need to stretch your legs after a long day of meetings? There are plenty of urban trail options that will lead you on your own Winnipeg adventure. Down a copy of our interactive self-guided walking tour, The Loop. This 9.5km path will take you through some of the most picturesque landmarks in central Winnipeg. Walk the whole path, or blaze your own trail! Download a copy of The Loop map to take with you as a reference.

(William Au) The Loop will take you through old St. Boniface, just one of many picturesque locations within walking distance of downtown Winnipeg.

If you’re in town on one of our very few non-sunny days and still want to go for an excursion on foot, Winnipeg’s indoor walkway connects you to many of downtown’s largest buildings without ever needing to step foot outside. Our reference map will guide you through our many overhead and underground paths.

Walking tours through the city’s most storied neighbourhoods will provide a new perspective on its history and culture. A city-wide walking tour of Winnipeg will take you to memorable sights, so make sure to bring a camera with you as you explore everything from The Forks to Assiniboine Park.

Specific tours are seasonally available to explore the history of Winnipeg in greater depth. The Exchange District, arguably Winnipeg’s most famous area, has a wealth of architecturally-rich buildings with dramatic histories, which you can soak up during a guided tour between May and August. If you’re looking for something truly unique, The Haunted Walk of Winnipeg will take you to allegedly haunted spaces, or some eerie alleyways that are great for photos and ghost sightings alike.

If you’d rather explore the city on two wheels than two feet, stop by  White Pine Bicycle Co. for a central bike rental outlet. Since you’re at The Forks, take your new ride for a spin on the trails alongside the Red and Assiniboine rivers to see Winnipeg from a whole-new perspective.

Our rental kiosk is fully operational and ready for all your bicycle rental needs!

Looking to work up more of a sweat? Winnipeg offers workouts at almost all intensity levels. Check out the  program schedule for the Y Downtown for a drop-in workout schedule, or stop by during their designated hours to swim some laps in their indoor pool. If you need to achieve your zen, Yoga Public offers drop-in classes on anything from TRX to hot yoga.

Run, walk or bike your way through your own personalized Winnipeg excursion and enjoy some of Winnipeg’s greenspace – there is always something to explore and see on our outdoor paths and indoor amenities.
