Connect with Tourism Winnipeg at Ottawa Meet Week & MPI the EVENT

We’re back to meeting in person this spring!

By: Meetings Winnipeg // March 29, 2022

Tourism Winnipeg’s business events team is heading back to Ottawa for some of the biggest national industry events of the year: CSAE Tête-à-Tête 2022 and MPI the EVENT. Our Business Development Managers Annie Henry and Grace Hicks, along eight Team Winnipeg partners can’t wait to see you in person!

Ottawa Meet Week runs April 4-7 with the key gathering taking place at CSAE Tête-à-Tête 2022. Tourism Winnipeg is pleased to sponsor this event on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at EY Centre in Ottawa. This year more than ever highlights the impact of meetings.

“Here, delegates can discover meeting solutions and explore potential partnerships,” says Natalie Thiesen, Vice President of Tourism, Tourism Winnipeg. “This event is the perfect opportunity to reconnect with your peers and hear personal stories on how we all flexed and adapted—and are stronger for it.”

Tourism Winnipeg will be joining the Ottawa chapter of MPI (Meeting Professionals International) to celebrate Global Meetings Industry Day on April 7, 15:30-17:00 EST 2022 at Shaw Centre. This international day of advocacy is a chance for leaders from across the meetings and events industry to join and showcase the impact that business meetings, conferences, conventions, incentive travel, trade shows and exhibitions have on the tourism industry.

According to Destination Canada, the total losses for business events scheduled in 2020-2026 due to the pandemic include $1.62 billion in direct spending, 4,001 business events and 1.9 million delegates.

“Business events are the catalyst of exciting ideas and new synergies. Throughout the pandemic, the events industry pivoted and transformed itself to be more powerful than ever thanks to success with hosting safe in-person meetings, plus the agility and reach of virtual and hybrid events,” says Thiesen. “Winnipeg’s suppliers moved in step with the evolution of meeting trends and have cutting-edge solutions for all your event needs.”

There’s another chance to connect with our team at MPI the EVENT, April 28-30, 2022 at the Pan Pacific Toronto. Tourism Winnipeg is always thinking creatively, so we’re proud to be collaborating sponsors in support of this year’s theme—Collaborate. Cultivate. Elevate. This education event is jointly organized and executed by the Toronto, Ottawa, and Montréal/Québec chapters of MPI.

“MPI the EVENT challenges the “typical” conference format. The event features peer-to-peer learning techniques and technology, creative meeting room designs, along with unique and tried-and-true session formats to foster participant collaboration on existing ideas to elevate the meetings industry. We look forward to exchanging ideas and seeing you there,” adds Thiesen.
